Can Patch Manager install .EXE device drivers?

I hope this generates a quick answer:

Can the Patch Manager within LDMS 9.0 be used to install .exe-based device drivers in Windows 7?

I have read the HOW-TO document about creating custom definitions for patch manager here:

http://community.landesk.com/support/docs/DOC-7549

I have managed to create a custom definition and managed to get clients to detect the vulnerability then download the files needed for a new device driver.  This is all straightforward.  My problem is that the .EXE setup utility fails to launch and I can't get any feedback from LDMS about the root cause of the failure.  The HOW-TO document describes using .MSI file types with MSIEXEC but it does not specifically exclude using .EXE types.

Does anyone know if patch manager can run .exe file types?  Anyone know if Windows 7 UAC causes problems with this since there is no way to perform file execute actions with elevated permissions?

My DPINST64.EXE file has the Windows 7 UAC logo overlay on the icon in the LDMS cache on the local machine.  The failure is the same if I specify the .exe with OR without command line switches.

-thanks
